Uploading Web Files
Directions for Uploading Web Files

To upload files to a server, you must first have permission to access the host machine and obtain a username and password. Anyone with an email account may register for the free web publishing service at Tripod.

Choose one of three methods to upload files to your folder on the server:

  1. At the Tripod site, use the service's directions to upload at their server.

  2. Use Netscape or Internet Explorer 4.0 to upload with this address in the Location box for Tripod sites:

    ftp://username@ftp.tripod.com

Then select Upload File under the File menu. Next you'll see a dialog window where you must select the correct folder and file from your local machine. After selecting the file, click the open command and the file will upload.

Note that Netscape only allows uploading files. You need FTP software to create folders and to delete files and folders.

  3. Use Fetch (or WS-FTP for Windows) with this address for the host machine:

    ftp.tripod.com

and log on using your Tripod member name for User ID and your Tripod password.
Make sure you are opening the correct folder on your local machine.
