Amazon.com opened in July of 1995. The people of Amazon had the idea of trying to make books more appealing to the people. With this site they made it fast, easy, and fun for people to buy books. Not only do they sell books they also sell CD's, videos, dvd, toys and games, and electronics. Another new site they have is online auctions. They have the Earth's Biggest selection of products. With the steep competition of other online business Amazon.com remains in front because of its good discounts, large inventory, and notification service. With one little click of the mouse you are shopping without leaving you home. Amazon is easy to use and with the purchase of something you can receive overnight delivery. The search engine is very quick with results that will help you find what you want. This online bookseller has become the largest Internet consumer merchant, with the expantion of videos and toys, etc. it is a gold mine. Amazon.com is always reaching to be better. In doing that they are now offering Net auctions. This service will bid for you up to the maximum price you are willing to pay. Amazon is going head to head with eBay the biggest auction site. Some sites are Internet Movie database (www.imdb.com) information on more than 150,000 movies. Another member is LiveBid.com (amazon.livebid.com) this is the sole provider of live event auctions on the Internet. Also PlantAll.com (www.planetall.com) this is a web based address book. Amazon.com has invested in four different other retailers. These four sites are drugstore.com; this site has information about personal hygiene and pharmacy. Gear.com, this site offers sports gear at a good prices. HomeGrocer.com, at this site you can go grocery shopping without leaving your home and have it delivered to your house. This site is really good for many reasons but one good reason is for the elderly. Pets.com, this site is the largest pet supply company. Amazon.com has decided to have four new online stores. Jeff Benzos admitted it will "take time for these new investments to pay off ". The four new online stores are software, video games, gift ideas, and home improvement. The software store will be incorporated into the consumer's electronic stores. The video game store will add sub categories to the toys & games store. The gift idea store will let shopper's search for gifts from Amazon.com stores for family and friends. The home improvement store will have a selection of tools and equipment. These sites may take time to set off, but just like everything else Amazon.com has come out with they will be successful. Also Amazon is going to have a co-branded credit card. This credit card will appear in 2000. The co-branded credit card is expected to make $150 million in fees from purchasing from Amazon.com. Amazon.com is huge and is still growing every day. More people buy books online than any other product category. With everyone flocking to Amazon to buy books they will see and go through everything else that Amazon has to offer. This helps Amazon to be so huge. There business has the best position and they are taking advantage of it. "It is expected that online grocery shopping will be bigger then the online book market in 2002 according to JupiterO's projections." Amazon.com advertisement is beginning to become really big with commercials on television giving everyone knowledge of this web site. Amazon.com is very concerned with the happiness of their customers and employees. That is why Amazon has so much to offer and it is so easy to use. The Amazon.com employees are very successful now with the popularity of the web site. The employees are bringing in 375,000 dollars each in annual sale. The stock market value of Amazon.com is estimated at 11.1 billion. Amazon.com wed site is full of items to choose from to buy. This site has just about anything you want. The site is also very helpful, for example you can find any book you want and you only have to know the authors name or the name of the book. Amazon has a site of best sellers; this is the site that will help you find any book. Not knowing much about this site before doing this project, I found that you can get anything and it is really easy for the people who are not great with computers. I believe that this site will continue to grow and profit.
